InTASC Standard 2: Learning Differences
The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.
2.1 The English Language Learner ratio in the U.S. is rapidly increasing. Using Folk stories, songs, and poems in the classroom help encourage cultural acceptance and knowledge. These Spanish poems for a Kindergarten lesson are engaging for ESL students.
2.2 Alternate physical abilities can create need for adjustment of technique and use of instruments and props in the general music classroom. For students with physical disabilities regarding basic grip, materials that can have altered grips are important for total inclusion.
2.3 Being aware of the cultural and socio-economic community of your school can allows implications and adjustments in the classroom. This is a report of research regarding the socio-economic statuses of my elementary student teaching placement in Howard County, MD.
