InTASC Standard 5: Application of Content
The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues.
5.1 This presentation was used for an American Music class for 7th and 8th graders on a discussion-based lesson about protest songs, this is a side of music education I have experienced but never applied as a teacher.
5.2 Planning a variety of lessons allows for enhanced stimulation and more exposure to musical elements.
5.3 Howard County Children’s Chorus Volunteer: Working with the management and rehearsal process of the Howard County Honor's choirs allowed me to see behind the scenes of advanced elementary ensembles.
